This defines all the possible gauge types. Gauges have predefined states based on ranges of values. All gauges support the standard states of "NOTAVAILABLE" (This gauge doesn't exist in this car) "OFF" (The gauge is turned off), "NORMAL" (The gauge is on and outputting values) "ERROR" (There's a problem reading the value of this gauge). "NOTAVAILABLE" (The gauge is not available on this car) Gauges can also define other states that the range can change based on the car and track.

For example, if you want to turn the Tachometer red when it's time to shift, then look for the state, "SHIFT" instead of a hard coded value of RPMs. You can also make it blink when the state is "CRITICAL" to indicate it has red-lined.
